A family of blacksmiths
OPINEL SAS is a family business; the chairman François Opinel and the director-general Denis Opinel are the great-grandsons of the founder Joseph Opinel. Operational leadership is in the hands of two deputy directors who oversee the managers responsible for industry, procurement & development, marketing & communication and export.

The Opinel Museum in Saint Jean de Maurienne, Savoie, is run by Maxime and Jacques Opinel, descendants of Jean Opinel, a blacksmith and brother of Joseph Opinel.

The company's values consist of a people-oriented approach with an emphasis on maintaining and developing employment in Chambéry, quality control through regular checks and continuous improvement of the entire production chain, and respect for the environment with a view to reducing the impact of our activities on nature (waste sorting and recycling, waste prevention, etc.).
