Saves money and waste; travel sustainably and never buy single-use bottled water again. You only need the Grayl Geopress Read more.
Clean, safe drinking water from virtually any freshwater source, in just eight seconds? The Grayl GeoPress is a powerful water purifier in the form of a 710 millilitre filter bottle that works on a simple principle: fill, press, drink. For travellers, bushcrafters, hikers and anyone building an emergency supply, a reliable water purifier is vital. You fill the outer bottle with water from a turbid river, well, lake or tap, press the inner cartridge down and drink purified water straight away. With no boiling, no chemical treatment and no waiting time, the Grayl GeoPress is ready to use wherever you are.
The moment you press the filter down through the contaminated water, a process of electroadhesion and ion exchange takes place, blocking pathogens at a submicron level. The GeoPress removes 99.99% of viruses (such as rotavirus, hepatitis A and norovirus), 99.9999% of bacteria (such as E. coli, cholera and salmonella) and 99.9% of protozoan cysts (such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium). The layers of ultra-fine activated carbon powder form a very large surface area that filters particles such as silt and microplastics and adsorbs chemicals, pesticides and heavy metals. The bottle also improves the taste, odour and clarity of your water. The filter has been independently tested to NSF protocols 42 and 53 and meets the EPA guide standard for microbiological water purifiers.
The GeoPress is packed with clever details that make it comfortable and versatile to use. Silver-treated zeolite provides an antibacterial effect, keeping the filter cartridge free from bacterial growth between uses. The SimpleVent drinking cap vents air during purification, protects against cross-contamination and dirt, and delivers one-handed hydration through a fast-flowing spout. The SoftPress comfort pads ensure non-slip, fatigue-free pressing, while the TopoGrip non-slip TPE protects all heavily used surfaces. Via the One-Way Drink Mix Valve, you can also add electrolytes or a sports drink mix to your water without affecting the filter media.
Travelling to areas with unreliable drinking water, heading into the wilderness or building an emergency kit? Then the Grayl GeoPress is an investment that pays for itself time and again, and a sustainable choice too: you never buy single-use water bottles again. At a weight of 450 grams, a height of 26.5 centimetres and a capacity of 710 millilitres, you have well over half a litre of safe drinking water in eight seconds. Choose the Grayl GeoPress and drink with confidence wherever your adventure takes you.
How does the Grayl GeoPress work?
You fill the outer bottle with unpurified water, insert the inner cartridge and press it down. In around eight seconds, you press the water through the purification cartridge, after which you have clean, purified drinking water straight away. The water no longer needs to be boiled or chemically treated; the principle is simple: fill, press, drink.
Which contaminants does the GeoPress remove?
The GeoPress removes 99.99% of viruses (such as rotavirus, hepatitis A and norovirus), 99.9999% of bacteria (such as E. coli, cholera and salmonella) and 99.9% of protozoan cysts (such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium). In addition, the activated carbon filters particles such as silt and microplastics and adsorbs chemicals, pesticides and heavy metals. The taste, odour and clarity of the water also improve.
Does this bottle also filter viruses?
Yes, unlike many simple filter straws, the Grayl GeoPress also removes viruses from the water, up to 99.99%. That makes the bottle suitable for use when travelling to areas where viral contamination of drinking water is a real risk. It thus provides a broad level of protection against biological and chemical contaminants.
What does the silver-treated zeolite do?
The silver-treated zeolite in the cartridge provides an antibacterial effect. This keeps the filter cartridge free from bacterial growth between uses, which benefits both the hygiene and the lifespan of the filter. That way you can store and reuse the GeoPress with confidence.
What can I do if the water is very cloudy?
If the water you are filtering is very cloudy, there are many loose particles suspended in it that can clog the filter more quickly. In that case, we recommend stretching a handkerchief or similar cloth over the scoop bottle while filling, so that the coarse debris is partly held back already. That way the filter cartridge lasts as long as possible.
How long does the filter cartridge last?
The purification cartridge lasts around 350 presses, which equals approximately 250 litres of water, or three years after first use. Once the "press time" rises to around 25 seconds, or three years have passed since first use, it is time to replace the cartridge. That way you always know when replacement is needed.
How long does an unused cartridge keep?
An unopened cartridge stored airtight keeps for up to 10 years when stored correctly, which makes the GeoPress suitable for an emergency kit or long-term storage. Once a cartridge has been put into use, it lasts up to 3 years, provided it is well maintained between uses. Store the cartridge dry and according to the storage instructions.
How do I clean and store the GeoPress?
Wash all parts regularly by hand; do not put them in the dishwasher and do not clean the cartridge with soap or cleaning agents. For long-term storage, perform a dry press, pour out the excess water, remove the cartridge and let it air dry (2 to 4 days, depending on humidity). Then reassemble the device to seal it airtight for storage.
How quickly will my order be shipped?
Orders placed on business days before 5:00 PM are shipped the same day. That means your water purifier arrives quickly and you can head out without delay. Handy when you want to complete your kit just before a journey or trip.
