Silky Pocketboy Professional 170mm - Outback Edition

The Silky Pocketboy Outback Edition is a version of the Silky Pocketboy designed specifically for use by hunters and bushcrafters. This is because it is not only handy for wood, you can also cut through bones with it. This saw is compact and lightweight, making it easy to take it anywhere. You lock the blade in two different cutting positions with the lock button. Is the saw folded? Then the sharp saw teeth are safely covered in the handle. It comes complete with hardcase holster.

The handle of this saw is made of a wood/composite composition. For this, it feels warm to the touch and is comfortable to hold. Moreover, this material provides more control over the saw than regular Silky handles.

Saw for bushcraft and hunting

So what is the difference between this saw and the regular Silky Pocketboy? Silky has made the saw blade of this Pocketboy Outback Edition thicker and stiffer, making it 100% outdoor proof. A black coating of a nickel/tin mix has also been applied to the saw blade and teeth. This extends the life of the saw blade and delivers great cutting performance. Moreover, the colour of the saw blade is dark and non-reflective, making you less visible in the dark. Very handy when hunting.

Using the Silky Pocketboy Outback Edition

The blade of this Silky saw is very hard. This makes it cut like no other, but it does require a bit of attention during use. This saw is a pull saw. This means the blade cannot bend like this during use. Be careful never to force the blade when moving forward. This puts you at risk of breakage. As with any saw: let the saw do the work and do not force anything. This will make you less likely to get tired and it benefits the life of the saw. By holding the handle at different points, you can control the wood removal. Holding close to the blade means little pressure on the blade and low wood removal. This allows you to saw very precisely and precisely. When you hold the handle further back, the pressure is greater and you cut faster, but less precisely.
