It is an absolute necessity to buy a good survival knife if you go bushcrafting or survival hiking. Cutting branches and chopping wood, crafting, setting traps, skinning animals, filleting fish, maybe even hunting... all activities for which you need to buy outdoor knives or a survival knife. But one survival knife is not like another, so consider what kind of blade, handle or size you like before buying. The blade, made of stainless steel or carbon steel for example, is usually corrosion resistant and the knife almost always comes with a holster or case, which may or may not be made of leather.
What kind of survival knife are you going to buy?
You can choose from all-round bushcraft knives, pocket knives, outdoor knives with firesteels, hunting knives, and special survival knives for children, with finger protection and/or a rounded tip. There are a surprising number of colours of outdoor knives that you can buy, but most of them have a camouflage colour like brown or green.
